Holi is also associated with the legend of Lord Krishna, who during his childhood had drank the poisonous milk of Putana, which lead to his blue skin.

Finally, he asks his sister, Holika, who could not be harmed by fire, to take Prahlad into the bed of fire. Hiranyakashyap made many attempts to murder his son but was saved by the divine help of lord Vishnu. However, his own son Prahlad worshipped Lord Vishnu, which mad the evil king furious. According to the legend, there was an evil king named, Hiranyakashyap, who considered himself as god and demanded everyone’s devotion towards him.
In the seventh canto of Bhagavad Purana or Shrimad Bhagavatam, there is an ancient legend that associates itself with the celebrations of Holi.
